Located just an hour from Dublin, amongst the rolling drumlin hills of North County Meath, near the village of Oldcastle, Loughcrew House is situated on its own estate surrounded by fields, woods, gardens and farmland.
It is an ideal venue for a wedding as it is alternative and exclusive, steeped in history and romance and providing privacy for the entirety of your wedding party. It is full of character and charm with a distinctive relaxed and tranquil atmosphere full of bohemian charm to form the backdrop for the wedding of your dreams.
Dating back to the 1820s Loughcrew House is at the centre of the magnificent country parkland known as the Loughcrew Estate.
The original house was designed and built by the master architect Charles Robert Cockerell. However following a number of fires from the 1820s to 1964 the original house was almost completely destroyed.
The remaining structure has been lovingly restored by the Naper family and today stands as an impressive and unique country house.
The best way to see if Loughcrew House is the place for your special day, is by coming to see it in person.
Wedding receptions are held in The Livery Rooms, Loughcrew House’s former stables and can accommodate up to 120 people. With its rustic elegant charm, exposed wooden beams and stone walls it lends itself beautifully to hosting the perfect wedding reception. Its high ceilings and original features are the perfect backdrop for creating your own individual dream wedding. Trestle tables and chairs are also provided.
The newly renovated Cockerell Bar is also available for your drinks reception and after dinner bar and lounge area. The Cockerell Bar has an eclectic mix of décor and furniture and retains many of the original stables features. It provides a quirky alternative venue for entertaining your guests.

Both myself and my husband would most sincerely like to thank Deborah, Emily, Caroline, Bernie, Shaun and Killian for all of their hard work and dedication in the run up to and the day of the wedding itself. Without the staff members either at the other end of the phone or on hand on the day especially Killian who was there to help even in the middle of the night!
My dream was to have my horses at my wedding, I held onto this dream for over 30 years and because of Loughcrew House and staff members, this dream actually came true! We had both myself and my Husband on horseback, which was absolutely amazing, and I will look back on this in years to come! The driver of the Rolls Royce was absolutely delighted he could park it in the courtyard as the wedding was underway and not have to worry about his beautiful car.
The guests were extremely happy with the courtyard set up and all of the space to move about in and even when it came to corralling children in, the doors of the courtyard could be closed over so we had no escapees!
The rolling hills in the background, the sheep dotted in the distance in the fields, the grey of the building against the lush green of the trees right down to the feel and ambiance of the house made such a relaxing atmosphere.
For a fraction of the cost of a “Castle Wedding” where you have the freedom to choose your caterer and decor, why would you bother going anywhere else to have your fairy tale wedding?
