Save the dates the 23rd and 24th of June 2016 because the Loughcrew Opera and Music Festival is back again! Following the staging of the hugely impressive “Puccini Scandal” in Loughcrew House in 2015, we are delighted to announce another great lineup for 2016!

Loughcrew House will play host to two different performances this year!

Tree Week 2016

This week (March 6th-13th) is Tree Week! In association with The Tree Council of Ireland, The ESB and Coilte celebrate the natural pride of Ireland.

The yew trees found in Loughcrew Gardens are said to be among the eldest known trees in the country. That’s why you should celebrate Tree Week with us  this Saturday the 12th of March in Loughcrew Gardens.

Come along and climb one of the  magnificent trees  at  Loughcrew Gardens and Adventure centre or use the Tree top zip line. To have some fun on these activities come along from 11am :)

In the Loughcrew Gardens Coffee Shop  there will be a workshop on the Lore and Legends of the unique collection of trees at Loughcrew gardens by Cathleen Brady Ecoendeavours. There is a lot to learn about the humble tree so come along and make a day of it at.

Spring Equinox Festival 2016

This year the Spring Equinox Festival will be celebrated on  Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of March. It’s the “return of the light” to the Loughcrew Cairns as the sun is set to light up the historic tombs.

Dawn Ceremonies begin at 5:45 am on both days at Carnbane East. Breakfast will be available at Loughcrew Gardens Coffee Shop on each day.

There’s loads on for everyone over the two days. On Sunday in Loughcrew House at 9.30 am learn how to  make flower essences with Aine Maire Ni Mhurchu. Following on from this at 11.30 am learn the tools of divination with Regina Ni Dinn in the Loughcrew House showrooms.  At 2.00 pm assemble at the Loughcrew Gardens Coffee Shop for the Loughcrew Lake Walk – with local Tour Guide Malachy Hand. It is a looped walk for approximately 2 hours,  Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for a hill walk. For a full list of what’s on offer see the images below.
